Fotofest Exhibition
Photographed while travelling through Japan and New York City, these images were made simply by walking, looking and responding to what was around me. Without a brief or a predetermined shot list, I allowed myself to slow down, follow instinct and photograph without overthinking.
For me, the series is a reminder that sometimes the most interesting photographs happen when you stop looking for them.

I arrived in Ginza knowing I wanted to photograph the iconic glass-brick facade of the Hermès building. The moment I stepped out of the train, my head was spinning with possibilities - the texture, the reflections, the architecture.
And then it started to rain.
Suddenly, the scene changed. Umbrellas appeared, the streets became reflective, and the building began to glow against the fading daylight. I love the contrast between the cool evening light and the warmth coming through the glass, with the people moving through the frame beneath their umbrellas.
It was one of those completely unplanned moments that made the photograph feel more alive. What began as a photograph of the architecture became something about the atmosphere of the place - a fleeting moment in Ginza that I happened to be there to capture.

20×30 Ilford Cotton Rag (310grams)
Captured while wandering the streets of Soho NYC, this image caught my attention for the unexpected contrast between the old brick facade, painted advertising and sharp afternoon light. The light falls across the building in a way that almost transforms the scene into a painting - softening the details while highlighting the texture and layers of the wall.
I love the way New York constantly blurs the line between architecture, advertising and street art, creating these fleeting compositions as you move through the city.

20×30 Ilford Cotton Rag (310grams)
Shot after dinner, walking back to our hotel in NYC. I was struck by the installation of washing strung between the buildings on this quiet New York street. It felt almost too considered to be accidental - rows of fabric suspended between the old brick facades, creating this unexpected softness against the grit of the city.
And yet, I still don’t know if it was intentional. Was it an artwork, something practical, or simply washing hanging between buildings?

Ocean Beach House
A modern farmhouse with a European accent, this retreat at Ocean Beach in Te Matau-a-Māui/Hawke’s Bay, designed by brigitchristiestudio and built by BNL Construction for owner Judith Markus, is shaped by friendship, framed by the sea, and grounded in material simplicity. Soft light and solid forms define the interior, where natural stone, linen and wood create a calming canvas for pieces old and new.
